COLUMBUS — The Division IV and V football All-Ohio teams were announced Tuesday by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.
Edison senior wide receiver Jacob Cusick, Buckeye Local junior linebacker Trey Hoover and Buckeye Local senior defensive back Ethan McHugh each landed on an All-Ohio team in Division V, while a host of local players were selected as All-Ohio Honorable Mention.
Cusick was one of the top receivers in the area all season for the Wildcats, hauling in 46 receptions for 712 yards, an average of 15.5 yards per catch, and seven touchdowns, was selected on the All-Ohio Second Team. He was also recently an All-East District First Team selection and a unanimous choice for the HSDT All-Area First Team. Hoover, a two-way standout for the Panthers, recorded 122 tackles, 68 solo, four sacks, nine tackles for loss, two forced fumbles from his linebacker position while also rushing for 923 yards and 10 touchdowns on offense.
He was selected for the All-Ohio Second Team.
Hoover, in addition to being a first-team selection on the All-East District list, was recently named the HSDT All-Area Defensive Player of the Year and a unanimous choice for the All-Area First Team.
McHugh recorded five interceptions, one interception return touchdown, five passes broken up, 50 tackles and one forced fumble this season for Buckeye Local was selected on the All-Ohio Third Team. He was also a first-team selection on the All-East District and All-Area lists.
Also in Division V, Edison’s Hunter Russell (offensive line) and Chase McClurg (linebacker) were honorable mentions along with Buckeye Local’s Justin Driscoll (defensive line) and Harrison Central’s Nathan Bertolino (running back) and Cam McAfee (defensive back).
In Division IV, Indian Creek was represented on the All-Ohio Honorable Mention list by senior defensive back Isaac Robinson.
The Division II and III teams will be announced on Today. The Division I All-Ohio team and the Ohio Mr. Football Award will be announced Thursday.
