UFC 271 is set to go down this Saturday night from Houston’s Toyota Center with a major championship bout on top of the card. In the main event, Israel Adesanya will defend his middleweight championship against Robert Whittaker in a rematch of their 2019 clash in which Adesanya won the title.
Adesanya has successfully defended his championship three times since winning the belt from Whittaker. Since losing the belt, Whittaker has established himself as the top contender to the belt by rattling off a trio of big wins.

Whittaker shot for a takedown but Adesanya easily sprawled to defend and go right back to striking at distance. Adesanya landed another heavy leg kick and backed to distance, feeling the distance was working well.

Adesanya landed his own leg kicks while feinting and trying to keep Whittaker off-balance. Adesanya just missed with a head kick and a hard left that briefly dropped Whittaker to the canvas, though the challenger got back to his feet quickly.

Derrick Lewis vs. Tai Tuivasa — Round 2: Tuivasa landed a low kick and ducked under a right hand from Lewis that would likely have ended the fight had it landed. Lewis landed a series of shots that wobbled Tuivasa badly and sent him into the cage. Lewis landed again and missed a takedown but Tuivasa came back with huge strikes, stumbling Lewis. Tuivasa landed a massive elbow and Lewis came crashing to the canvas, ending the fight and giving Tuivasa a massive knockout victory. Official result: Tai Tuivasa def. Derrick Lewis via KO, Round 2.

Tuivasa landed a few elbows before Lewis scored a takedown with an inside trip. Lewis landed a massive flurry of shots on the ground before Tuivasa got to his feet and both men exchanged heavy power punches. Lewis scored another takedown with a bit of a hip toss. Tuivasa again managed to get back to standing, however and pinned Lewis against the cage until the end of the round.

Derrick Lewis vs. Tai Tuivasa — Round 1: Tuivasa missed with an early leg kick before hitting the next one he threw. Tuivasa ducked under a right hand from Lewis and locked up a body lock against the cage, holding Lewis in the position and landing a few knees to the thigh. The referee quickly restarted the fighters in the center of the cage and Lewis threw a high kick that was blocked before uncorking a right hand. Lewis then took a turn pushing Tuivasa into the cage and briefly fished for a takedown.
