IONIA SWEEPS LANSING EASTERN: The Bulldogs rolled through Lansing Eastern on the road Tuesday for their first two wins of the season, winning game one, 19-2, in four innings. Erin Groom led the Bulldogs’ offense with four hits and three RBIs while Londyn Brown added three hits and four RBIs. Raj Esquivel also added three hits in the victory. Melayna Braman and Chloe Witter split pitching duties, each pitching two innings, with Witter striking out four batters and Braman recording two strikeouts. The Bulldogs dominated game two, winning 26-1, in three innings. The Bulldogs got off to a hot 20-0 start in the first inning and were led on offense by Braman, who had four hits in the game and three RBIs. Alexias Daugherty had two hits and led the team with four RBIs. Rachel Siemen added three hits and Esquivel added three RBIs. Witter pitched one inning while Victoria Gutierrez pitched two innings, with Gutierrez recording five strikeouts. RECORD: 2-0. NEXT: at Fowlerville at 4 p.m. today.
CC-C SWEEPS VESTABURG: CC-C: The Eagles opened their season with a road sweep over Vestaburg on Tuesday, winning game one, 8-7. Haeven Clark recorded the win in the circle and struck out 11 batters. Jenna Berry led the offense with three RBIs while Clark added a triple and two RBIs. The Eagles won game two, 11-5, with Clark picking up the win again, striking out eight batters. Kaylee Byrnes led the offense with a single and two triples while Berry and Clark added a single and a double each. COACH’S QUOTE: “We hit the ball well and had several players contribute offensively. Hopefully we will continue to be able to get outside and keep improving our game.” — Krista Shepard. RECORD: 2-0. Four Bulldogs pitchers combined for a five-inning no-hitter against Lansing Eastern in game one, including Carter Castillo, Garrett Lee and Will Anderson. Castillo led the group with five strikeouts in two innings. Ethan Bowen led the offense with four hits and three RBIs. Tanner Gregory added three RBIs while Kane Lundstrom had two RBIs. Ionia won game two, 19-1, in two innings. Alex Barr pitched a complete game, allowing two hits and striking out two batters. Tyson McDiarmid led the offense with two hits and five RBIs while Lee had three hits and three RBIs. RECORD: 2-0. NEXT: at Fowlerville at 4 p.m. today.
