Jawad-induced rain damages crops in Odisha, West Bengal

Even though the cyclone lost its steam while still over the Bay of Bengal, it triggered heavy rains it coastal districts of both the states. There is high alert in Idukki and Pathanamthitta districts due to the opening of the gates of the Cheruthoni dam. This was necessitated due to Tamil Nadu’s move to open the shutters of the Mullaperiyar dam. The Kerala government said that it will move Supreme Court over the issue.

The Gorakhpur fertiliser plant, worth ₹8,603 crore, will produce 12.7 lakh metric tons of neem-coated urea per year, according to officials. The project is expected to not only bring prosperity to farmers’ lives but also create 20,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities for youths.
