Bryce to Brooks for six
Alabama took over at the 6-yard line with 3:39 to play, and it didn’t take long for the Crimson Tide to make a big statement. They drove right down the field — which included an improv option pitch from quarterback Bryce Young to Brian Robinson Jr. for a 23-yard run — to punch it in. Young found a wide open Ja’Corey Brooks down the left sideline from 44 yards out to make it 17-3. Games are often won and lost in the five minutes before and after halftime, and Alabama stuck a dagger into the hearts of the Bearcats with that one.

Brian Robinson already over 100 yards
The star running back for the Crimson Tide is 100% healthy and it shows. He has 102 yards on 14 carries and there’s still 6:21 left in the second quarter. Cincinnati came in giving up just 3.33 yards per carry and 137.5 rushing yards per game. Alabama as a team has 140 yards on the ground and is popping off 6.4 yards on every run.

Alabama RG Emil Ekiyor out for rest of game
The ESPN broadcast reports that Emil Ekiyor is out for the game after suffering an injury late in the first quarter. He hobbled off to the sideline, but it wasn’t immediately clear what happened. Freshman Jaeden Roberts is listed behind Ekiyor on the official depth chart and was out in place of Ekiyor on Alabama’s next drive.

Bearcats fighting against Young
Cincinnati is generally winning on passing downs and have held ‘Bama quarterback Bryce Young to just 38 yards on eight pass attempts, good enough for 4.8 yards per attempt. The issue remains that the Tide have rushed for more than 106 yards on 18 combined attempts, including 74 yards rushing in fewer than 20 minutes for Brian Robinson. Cincinnati needs to get Robinson under control.

Alabama’s drive stalls
Will Reichard hit a 26-yard field goal to cap off a 13-play, 67-yard drive that looked very similar to the Crimson Tide’s first. But Cincinnati sacked Bryce Young on second-and-goal from the 9-yard line, and Young couldn’t punch it in on a quarterback scramble on the next play, which put an end to what looked like another statement from the Tide. Still, there is a ton of pressure on Bearcats quarterback Desmond Ridder on the upcoming possession, because Alabama’s offense still looks lethal.
