If you thought Day 1 of legal tampering in 2022 NFL free agency was crazy, you couldn’t have fathomed what Day 2 had in store. It was a day headlined with lunacy, when Randy Gregory agreed to terms on a five-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys before pivoting at the last second and going to the Denver Broncos due to an attempted change to the contract language by the Cowboys front office — following the agreement. The move sent shockwaves throughout the league, and forced the Cowboys to pivot their interest to Broncos legend Von Miller, the two currently in talks to see if they can get a deal done.
That was only the beginning, because Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is now making his rounds with teams by way of formal interviews ahead of a looming trade, and one such team was the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday — leading to former first-overall pick Baker Mayfield to pen a public letter that can only be viewed as a goodbye to Browns fans. Will Miller replace Gregory in Dallas? Will Watson choose Cleveland and force Mayfield out (to Houston?) via trade??
Or will Watson choose the Atlanta Falcons and instead deliver that fate to Matt Ryan???
So many questions around the league need answers, and at least some of them will arrive on Day 3 — also the official start of the new league year when agreements can now become signed deals at 4 p.m. ET. Hold onto your hats folks, because CBS Sports has you covered from every angle of this rollercoaster ride called NFL free agency.
